Miller & Sons Plumbing
Some businesses grow by cutting corners. Others grow by cutting noise. I remember a conversation with Ashley Miller from years ago, one of those quiet, unguarded moments business owners recognize instantly. We weren’t talking about growth charts or marketing tactics. We were talking about kids. Long days. The tension between building something meaningful and not letting it cost you the life you’re trying to build it for.
Different industries. Same road.
That’s the thing about Ocala. If you stay long enough, your paths begin to overlap. You start to recognize the people who aren’t just running businesses but building lives. Miller and Sons Plumbing is one of those stories.
Because when plumbing goes wrong, it’s never just plumbing. It’s water spreading where it shouldn’t be. It’s stress rising fast. It’s the quiet question every homeowner asks in that moment: Who can I trust not to make this worse? That’s where Miller and Sons shows up.
The Spark
CJ Miller didn’t wake up one morning wanting to own a plumbing company. Plumbing had been part of his life for as long as he could remember. He grew up in the trade. Learned it from the ground up. Saw firsthand how good work could protect a family and how careless work could cost one dearly.
What finally pushed him to step out on his own wasn’t ambition. It was conviction. He wanted to do things the right way. Not the fastest or cheapest way, the right way. Ashley, his wife and business partner, puts it plainly.
“CJ always had a bigger vision, not just for the company, but for our family and our boys. The ‘Sons’ in Miller and Sons are literal.”
What started as one man in the field has grown into a team of more than 25 employees. With that growth came responsibility, not just to customers but to the families who now rely on the Miller and Sons standard.

The Journey
Ashley never planned to work in plumbing. In fact, she didn’t want to.
CJ ran the early days alone while Ashley worked for a local custom homebuilder. Then life shifted, as it tends to do. Children. Homeschooling. Family priorities. Staying home didn’t quite fit, and neither did staying on the sidelines.
“One month,” Ashley says with a laugh. “That’s all I lasted.”
She stepped in where help was needed: phones, dispatch, accounting, marketing, networking. Then more help was needed. And then more.
Miller and Sons grew from showing up, learning fast and refusing to cut corners. They navigated economic swings, increased competition and the constant pull between growth and family life. There was no handbook, just long days, honest mistakes and shared resolve.
The Ocala Connection
Ocala fits Miller and Sons the way a well-set pipe fits its joint: solid, dependable and built to last.
“We care about relationships, family and integrity,” Ashley says. “That’s Ocala.”
Even as the city grows, it remains a place where names matter. Where trust is earned slowly. Where word of mouth still carries weight.
Miller and Sons has been intentional about remaining a family business, regardless of size. And Ocala has responded with loyalty, referrals and trust built over years, not transactions.
The Heart
Miller and Sons doesn’t just work in Ocala. They live here. Their boys are growing up here. Their employees are raising families here.
As the company expanded, Ashley realized giving back couldn’t be accidental anymore. It had to be intentional. So they created a community liaison role, someone focused entirely on relationships, gratitude and connection.
They support organizations such as ARC of Marion, Boys & Girls Club, Rotary Club, Grateful Hearts and Project Hope. Not for recognition, but because it’s what responsible businesses do.
“Half of her job is retention,” Ashley says. “The other half is connection.”
The Difference
Ask Ashley what truly sets Miller and Sons apart, and she answers without hesitation.
“Accountability.”
In an industry where unlicensed work and broken promises are far too common, Miller and Sons chose transparency. Clear systems. Ongoing training. Documented work. Ownership when something doesn’t go perfectly. Accountability is their real product. Plumbing just happens to be how they deliver it. When things go wrong, as they sometimes do, they don’t disappear. They show up. They own it and make it right.
The Vision
After years of steady growth, the Millers are intentionally slowing the pace, just enough to strengthen the foundation.
This season is about refinement. Training. Systems. Protecting the standard before expanding the footprint.
Their long-term vision is simple and ambitious: to become Ocala’s most trusted home service partner. The company families call first, not because of price, but because of trust.
The Now
Miller and Sons Plumbing offers military and senior discounts, along with rotating promotions on water filtration systems and maintenance services for water heaters and softeners.
More than anything, they offer peace of mind, and that’s something every homeowner understands.
Having walked alongside Ashley and CJ over the years, building businesses, raising families and navigating the quiet weight of responsibility that comes with putting down roots, I can say this: their story mirrors Ocala itself.
In a town like this, businesses like Miller and Sons become part of the place people call home.
