Nestled in Ocala—the Horse Capital of the World—their clinic bridges worlds. It’s a place where doctors listen, where horses and humans heal side by side, and where Ocala’s heart for animals and people beats as one.
The Spark
It began with a horse named Ella. Esther’s mare didn’t just carry her through fields—she carried her toward her calling. Ella became the bridge that led Esther to chiropractic care, a path she soon embraced wholeheartedly.
Meanwhile, Johann had dreamed since boyhood of owning a practice rooted in integrity and heart. On one of their first dates, he shared this vision. Esther smiled and said she was ready to fuel it. “I’m the gasoline, he’s the spark,” she recalls. Together, they ignited a mission to restore medicine that puts people before policies.
“We want to bring back small practices, offering patients solutions aligned with their values.” – Dr. Esther Brummund
The Journey
Their story begins, fittingly, with vows. On July 10, 2021, under gray Kentucky skies, they were married in horse country. Rain poured in sheets, drenching guests but filling hearts. Old German and Italian wisdom says rain on a wedding day is good luck. If that’s true, Johann and Esther hit the jackpot.
That day wasn’t just about rings and a first dance—it was about declaring a mission: to open a clinic rooted in love for animals, people, and community. Starting wasn’t easy. Both self-described introverts, they were more comfortable caring for patients than standing in the spotlight. Yet entrepreneurship demanded boldness. “Doing all the right things doesn’t mean you avoid hardship,” Esther reflects. “But those hardships shape you.”
The Ocala Connection
When people asked why they moved from the Midwest to start a clinic, Esther’s answer was simple: “Because Ocala is the Horse Capital of the World.”
Ocala is more than pastures and paddocks—it’s where the hum of a tractor mixes with the thunder of hooves, where world-class athletes train and neighbors still wave on the road. “We’d rather be small fish in a big pond than big fish in a small pond,” Johann says. Ocala offered both: a global stage and a small-town heartbeat that made them feel at home.
The Heart
Horse Country Clinic doesn’t just treat patients—it uplifts the community. Their annual Patient Appreciation Day offers free adjustments in exchange for donations to local nonprofits. Last year, they partnered with Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses, whose tiny equine ambassadors bring big comfort to children and families. With support from BEMER’s Ian Robb, their contributions were doubled, funding reading programs and animal therapy.
This year, their generosity turns toward VOCAL, with plans to create a rehabilitation fund helping small animals receive preventative and alternative care. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” Esther says.
“Our hearts beat for people, horses, dogs, and for Ocala itself.”
The Difference
Step into Horse Country Clinic, and you’ll notice right away—this isn’t a “mill.” This isn’t a place where patients are shuffled in, cracked, and sent on their way. Every visit is personal. Every patient—whether a child, rider, horse, or pup—is treated as an individual with unique needs.
“We treat the whole body,” Johann says. That means hips, knees, backs, shoulders, wrists—every joint and connection. They’re also one of only two clinics in Ocala treating humans and animals together. Imagine a rider and her horse, or a family and their pup, all cared for under one roof.
The Vision
Their dream is bigger than one building on South Pine Avenue. They see Horse Country Clinic as the seed of something larger—a new model of physical medicine and rehabilitation, where education, collaboration, and holistic care intersect.
“We want to grow into clinics nationwide,” Esther explains. Their boldest dream is to bring this hybrid of human-and-animal care to horse communities across the country.
Rain at the altar. A mare named Ella. Two introverts stepping into entrepreneurship. Their story proves that sparks grow into fire. The question isn’t if their vision will spread—it’s when.
The Now
Right now, Johann and Esther are introducing themselves the old-fashioned way—not with flashy billboards, but with presence. You’ll find them at local expos, gyms, and studios, offering free mini-massages and consultations—one handshake, one smile, one connection at a time.
At their clinic, they host monthly Sound Baths—restorative experiences blending vibration, stillness, and nervous system healing. In January 2026, they’ll launch an intensive 8- and 12-week Sound Bath series, followed by wellness packages for equine partners and holistic bundles for you and your pup.
There You Have It
Horse Country Clinic of Chiropractic is more than a business. It’s a love story written in rain and horses—a rebellion against impersonal medicine and a gift to Ocala, offering care that’s personal, comprehensive, and filled with heart.
Johann and Esther aren’t just chiropractors. They’re visionaries, neighbors, and healers who make Ocala stronger—one patient, one pawprint, at a time.
And if you’re a rider, a parent, or a neighbor who believes care should feel like family, you’ll find it waiting for you here in Horse Country.
